Mariah May Expected To Join WWE (AEW News)

Mariah May is reportedly leaving AEW for WWE.

Following recent reports that 2025 is a contract year for AEW's Mariah May, it very well looks like the Glamour could be on her way out of the company.

To the surprise of nobody, those initial reports noted how AEW was keen to keep Mariah, and that WWE was keen to sign her. Now, though, it appears that the former AEW Women's Champion will indeed be swapping AEW for WWE once her existing deal is up.

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, both Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez detailed how Mariah May in WWE was seemingly on the cards. From those whom the two spoke to within WWE, WWE "knows" that Mariah is keen to sign with the market leader. Likewise, those in AEW are under the impression that the English star will be jumping to WWE. Alvarez also noted how May originally signed a two-year deal with AEW in 2023, with the belief that this contract is up in the summer.

Interestingly, Mariah May recently posted an Instagram story showing an airplane window and the caption, "You can't make the wrong decision because every decision leads you to where you're supposed to be" - which, at the time, sparked speculation over her future.

Should Mariah indeed be on her way to WWE, that would certainly be quite the coup for WWE and quite the loss for AEW. Throughout her 174-day run with the AEW Women's Title and beyond, May became one of AEW's most-featured talents, regularly impressing between the ropes and with her character work, which included a fantastic rivalry with 'Timeless' Toni Storm. Mariah dropped that belt back to Storm at Grand Slam Australia in February, then unsuccessfully challenged for it again at Revolution last month, but the 26-year-old has not been seen since that May vs. Storm trilogy wrapped up.

The Next AEW Star To Join WWE?

Should Mariah May make the move from AEW to WWE, she'll be following in the footsteps of several familiar faces.

Early 2025 saw Ricky Saints/Starks, Miro, and Malakai Black all granted their AEW release, which was soon followed by Rey Fenix also being allowed out of his AEW deal. Of course, Fenix's brother Penta had already made that move at the turn of the year. Then there's Ethan Page, who left AEW last summer and won the NXT Championship barely a month after debuting for the brand.

While Saints is another who has already achieved title success under the WWE banner - defeating Shawn Spears to become the NXT North American Champion earlier this month - Miro and Black have still yet to be confirmed as officially returning to WWE, although both men are reportedly on their way back, with Black already being teassed through vignettes on SmacKDown lately.

Spears himself is someone who made his own WWE return last year after exiting AEW, as did Andrade, and another former AEW man nowadays in NXT is Lexis King. When looking at the main roster, though, Cody Rhodes and Jade Cargill are two major names who immediately stand out, with the American Nightmare currently the poster boy of WWE, and Jade having made quite the impact herself since arriving in late 2023 and presently set for a heated singles match against Naomi at WrestleMania 41. For what it's worth, there's also that CM Punk fella, too...

So, will Mariah May be the next to trade AEW for WWE, or could there be a further twist to the tale and she instead decides to remain with Tony Khan's promotion?
