Changes were made to this week's Friday Night SmackDown before the show went live, possibly due to COVID-19.

That's according to PWInsider's Mike Johnson, who notes that both a singles match between Zelina Vega and IYO SKY and the original in-ring announcement of the upcoming SummerSlam triple-threat WWE Women's Championship match were scrapped late in the day.

WWE instead booked SKY vs. Charlotte Flair on the show and announced the epic three-way involving the 'Queen', Bianca Belair, and Asuka on social media. The 'Empress of Tomorrow' then attacked one of her PLE opponents after her match-winning performance.

Johnson would explain that the word doing the rounds was that various talent were pulled from the show due to medical reasons. And one version of the story is that some positive COVID tests had sprung up or performers had at least come into direct contact with someone who had tested positive in the lead-up to SmackDown.

At this moment in time, it isn't clear exactly which stars potentially tested positive or were perhaps in contact with someone who had.

Everyone here at WhatCulture sends their best wishes to the various folks involved.
