The G1 Climax came to America for the first time last night, as fans in Dallas, TX were treated to stellar A Block encounters including Kazuchika Okada vs. Hiroshi Tanahashi and KENTA vs. Kota Ibushi. Although the American Airlines Center was far from full, NJPW know the appetite is there (announcing Okada vs. Tanahashi in advance might have helped), and ended the show revealing they are set to return to the country this autumn.

This September, the company will hit the USA's east coast for a special Fighting Spirit Unleashed tour. Over three days between September 27-29, NJPW will perform shows at the Lowell Memorial Auditorium in Boston, New York City's prestigious Hammerstein Ballroom, and Philadelphia's 2300 Arena - the former ECW Arena.

New Japan's long-serving referee Tiger Hattori will mark his retirement at the close of the New York show. At present, no matches or specific names have been cited for the trio of events, so stay tuned.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
