Hirooki Goto is the embodiment of the cliché "Always the bridesmaid, but never the bride." A six-time New Japan Cup finalist (with three wins), two-time IC champion, three-time NEVER champion, and one of only three men to win the G1 Climax tournament on their first attempt, he's certainly one of the roster's most accomplished wrestlers. Sadly, however, the IWGP Heavyweight Championship has eluded him over the years, and he's owner of the depressing accolade of being the only G1 winner to never hold the title.

Goto's a man who has always liked to march to the beat of his own drum, but in early 2016, with the departure of Shinsuke Nakamura, CHAOS suddenly lost a lot of star power at the top. For months, Kazuchika Okada attempted to recruit Goto into their ranks, and after saving him from an attack by Tetsuya Naito, Goto finally agreed.

Since joining CHAOS, Goto has filled an important role along with Tomohiro Ishii as CHAOS' muscle. They're the rough, tough powerhouses who on the right day can beat any of the company's top guys. Goto may never be IWGP Champion, but with CHAOS behind him, anything is possible.
