AEW's Brian Cage could be put on a milk carton at this point, considering he hasn't been seen on television in five months, but it looks like he could finally be poised to make a return.

Appearing on the Going Broadway podcast Tuesday, Cage himself said there actually is a plan for his return, but he couldn't do much more than acknowledge he would be back on AEW TV.

Cage has been absent from AEW since October after losing to Ricky Starks and dropping the FTW Championship to his former Team Taz cohort. His contract was reportedly set to expire in February, but Fightful Select indicated that AEW picked up his option year, which sounded odd considering he hadn't wrestled for the company in so long.

Now, it looks like we could finally see why AEW decided to keep him around for an additional year.

During his interview, Cage said there are plenty of matches he could have with wrestlers on the AEW roster. Given how many newcomers have debuted since he was last on TV, it's easy to envision several fresh matchups. Cage also said he has continuously pitched ideas for himself, both while he was active and during this sojourn:

"I've pitched different ideas. There was ideas that changed up towards the end. I came up with a couple of ideas. There are different creative ideas, some are more detailed than others. It's all supposed to formulate into this plan that is underway."

Cage signed with All Elite Wrestling in January 2020 and debuted in May of that year at Double or Nothing in the Casino Ladder Match, which he won. He immediately aligned himself with Taz and feuded with then-AEW World Champion Jon Moxley, but failed to capture the title.
