Power Ranking WWE's 10 Top Performers For September 2016
3. The Miz
This entry is the most surprising on this list, but there isn't an objective wrestling fan out there who could argue that the high placement isn't deserved. The Miz has been killing it since the brand split and has shown more personality than a substantial portion of the roster combined.
As Intercontinental champion, Miz has been one of the focal points of SmackDown, and he's taken that ball and ran with it. Bringing back his wife Maryse and incorporating her into his act has taken him to the next level and ramped up the douche factor, something that Miz has always had in abundance. He's perfectly cast as a natural born heel and even though he's been a main event-level competitor before, he's currently doing the best character work of his career.
The Miz is never going to be lumped in with ring greats like Shawn Michaels or his rival Daniel Bryan, but he's been able to bypass his limitations with his personality. The Talking Smack segment with GM Bryan that many assumed was a shoot - something that may have a bit of truth to it - had the wrestling world on fire and even managed to break kayfabe for a moment there.
Throw in the fact that Miz had one of the best matches of his career against Ziggler at Backlash and you've got a guy who is exceeding the expectations of the audience and is deservedly working his way back into the main event. A little over a year ago he was a comedy act that drew what some fans refer to as "X-Pac heat"; now he's one of the most effective heels in the entire business.
