Predicting WWE SummerSlam 2017's Card

2. Jinder Mahal Vs. Shinsuke Nakamura

When John Cena vs. Shinksuke Nakamura for #1 contendership was announced this week on SmackDown, two thoughts ran through the minds of many hardcore fans. The first was “wait, they’re giving this away on SmackDown? Seriously?” The second was, “Oh lord, Cena’s gonna win this, isn’t he?”

However, given that there’s no way in hell anything is going to main-event SummerSlam aside from RAW’s Fatal 4-Way, it’s likely WWE won’t even try to tease John Cena dethroning Jinder Mahal to win his 17th’s world title. Instead, expect to see Nakamura win the match next Tuesday and challenge the 'Modern Day Maharaja'. This way, WWE can keep their options open as to what they do. Either Nakamura can defeat Mahal and restart SmackDown under a new babyface champion, or Nakamura can get his triumphant victory, only for Baron Corbin to cash in and steal Shinsuke’s moment, thus generating nuclear heat for the 'Lone Wolf'. That would not be the case if he were to steal the title from Cena.

What becomes of Cena, then?
