3. SummerSlam: Match Of The Year?

In our eyes, the quest for WWE's main roster match of the year is a three horse race between John Cena vs. AJ Styles at the Royal Rumble, The Usos and New Day's innovative Hell In A Cell war, and this: SummerSlam's brutal, brilliant four-way main event.

It was no more than four of the biggest, baddest men in the company going at it for 21 minutes, but sometimes, that's all we need. Samoa Joe, Brock Lesnar, Braun Strowman, and Roman Reigns were on fire. They set a breathless pace, worked several perfectly-timed cut-off spots, and built an exorbitant amount of intensity throughout. Each was exhausted by the end, and rightly so: they left nothing in the tank.

Much of the bout revolved around Strowman vs. Lesnar. 'The Monster' forced 'The Beast' into a stretcher-bound exit with two table powerslams early on, and was presented as the match's most dominant force, but Lesnar returned. Victory eluded Braun as Brock countered Reigns' Spear into an F5, escaping by the skin of his teeth.

A potential singles bout felt like the hottest match in the world as SummerSlam closed, and while WWE rushed the follow-up, there's no denying the palpable excitement that permeated the show's conclusion.
