John Cena’s 11 WWE SummerSlam Matches From Worst To Best
9. 2012 Vs. Big Show Vs. CM Punk
This triple threat match for the WWE Championship was in the middle of CM Punk's really long title reign. He was somewhere in the 200s as far as days holding his title. One notable thing to consider prior to this match was that there was a moment where Punk tried to get Cena to shake his hand but Cena refused. John thought that respect was to be earned, not demanded, so they were mad.
Big Show dominated a lot of this match. It seemed like he was constantly chopping the life out of his two opponents. Punk and Cena both tried to slay the giant and finally got the big man to tap out when they simultaneously applied the Anaconda Vise and the STF.
Which guy could be credited for the win? Like the Orton match from 2009, this one also needed a restart.
AJ Lee gave the word to get this match going again and Cena had Big Show ready for a pin after an AA. Punk capitalized on this move and dumped Cena out of the ring and pinned Show himself. Punk stole the win from Cena and retained his title.
The ending might've been a little goofy but it was at least sensible. After witnessing the mess that Cena went through with Orton from 2009, this doesn't seem bad at all, in comparison.
