John Cena’s 11 WWE SummerSlam Matches From Worst To Best
10. 2009 Vs. Randy Orton
This odd WWE Championship match between Randy Orton and John Cena didn't take the bottom spot on this list because the first thirteen minutes or so were actually really good. This had all the makings of a classic match, but then Orton had to go and get himself disqualified. He shoved the ref to end the match, which set up a bizarre series of events.
Lillian Garcia announced that the match would be immediately restarted per orders of Vince McMahon. If Orton intentionally got himself DQ'ed again he would then lose his title. Well, Orton then bailed by grabbing his belt and walking out. The referee counted to ten on Orton, ending the match.
Why would Randy just lose his belt on purpose?
According to the logic of this match, he didn't lose his title. The countout loss didn't count as a DQ for some reason. This was the point that the crowd seemed really confused. Lillian announced that the match would restart a third time and if Orton got himself DQ'ed OR counted out, his title would transfer.
It looked like Cena had Orton beat with an STF attempt but a fan (who was really a DiBiase kid) would enter the ring and attack the ref. This didn't end the match and Orton RKO'd Cena for the win.
My brain hurt after watching this.
