Ranking Every ECW Champion In History - From Worst To Best
10. Mikey Whipwreck
As far as underdog stories go, they don’t get much better than that of Mikey Whipwreck.
Initially employed as a member of the ring crew, allegedly Whipwreck and his buddies would often work for free as long as they were allowed to get in the ring and mess around after shows. This eventually led to Joey Styles suggesting that Paul Heyman take a closer look a Whipwreck, and soon the youngster found himself signed to ECW as an in-ring performer.
Less than two years on, Whipwreck would achieve the impossible when he somehow managed to defeat the Sandman in a ladder match to become the ECW World Heavyweight Champion. The miraculous turnaround not only provided us with a true rags-to-riches tale, but it also cemented Whipwreck’s place in history as the youngest ECW Champion of all time.
It may only have been a solitary reign, but the improbable circumstances in which it arrived made this one a victory for the ages. Plus, who doesn’t love a feel-good story?
