For three years, John Cena worked his way up the WWE ladder and proved his worth against the very best SmackDown had to offer, but it wasn't until Judgement Day 2005 that he finally earned the fans' respect.

At WrestleMania 21, Cena knocked off JBL to capture his first WWE Championship, ending his near-year long reign as champion. A short while later, he gave the prestigious prize a makeover and introduced the spinner belt that fans would come to know over the next eight years.

Of course, this didn't sit well with JBL, who opted to invoke his rematch clause against Cena in an "I Quit" match at Judgement Day. This was long before Cena established his "never give up" persona, so it was uncertain whether he was going to walk out of Target Center in Minneapolis with his title intact.

Despite their disappointment of a match at WrestleMania, the two ruthless rivals went all out in this bout and took the fight all over the arena. Moreover, The Champ didn't look out of place in the extreme environment and showed he could hang with the main event talent.

A bloody Cena threatening to hit him with an exhaust pipe caused JBL to quit, though Cena went through with it anyway.
