We finally turn the corner from subpar and middling main events to closing WrestleMania matches that actually delivered on their promises.

First up is last year’s Saturday main event, which pit Roman Reigns against CM Punk and Seth Rollins in a Paul Heyman on-a-pole match, as the Hall Of Fame manager/mouthpiece/'Wise Man' factored heavily into the build to the match and into the finish itself.

The Triple Threat itself was pretty damn decent. The wrestling was top-notch, with all 3 superstars making it a true battle rather than the usual 'one person rolls outside while the other men fight' routine. The closing sequence before the Heyman melodrama was excellent, with each man throwing haymakers at the others and going for their respective kill shots. Rollins catching the spear with a Pedigree and adding a stomp has been done before, but Seth hit those and shoved Punk out of the ring with such urgency that you bit on that as the finish.

And then, of course, there was the finish itself, which saw Heyman double-crossing both Punk and Reigns - kickstarting the snakebitten stable known as The Vision. Punk and Roman haven’t really leaned on this recent history yet, though there’s still plenty of time before their world title match at WrestleMania 42 to make that happen.
