Ranking Every WCW Champion In History - From Worst To Best
1. Ric Flair
That being said, no one represented that big gold belt quite like the irrepressible Ric Flair. So by the narrowest of margins the Nature Boy just pips his old WCW rival to pole position on this list.
In total, Flair held the WCW World Heavyweight Championship on a record-setting seven occasions, including a spell as the inaugural holder of the belt (although that win is credited as an NWA title win amongst his 16 world championships). That first win arrived way back in January of 1991 with the last of his seven runs coming as late as May 2000, which—at 51 years of age—made him the oldest champion in the belt's history.
That in itself is a testament to the longevity and success of Flair’s incredible career, and when you consider the cast of guys he beat along the way, including Kevin Nash, Big Van Vader, Randy Savage and Sting, it’s difficult to place him anywhere other than top spot—on this list or any other for that matter.
Of course, if you see it slightly differently then feel free to sound off in the comments below and let me know what you thought of these rankings. Just don’t try to convince me that Michael Cole was right about Goldberg being the best of the lot…
