19. Stacy Keibler And David Flair

David Flair and Stacy Keibler seem about the most ridiculous wrestling couple of all time...except for that they actually dated in real life!

In September 2000, the two were going to get married as part of a storyline. Stacy was pregnant, so she wanted to marry the father of her child...or so we thought. Vince Russo was in creative control at the time, so he went into his bag of tricks from his WWF tenure and put together a wedding angle. The problem is, neither Flair or Keibler were over enough to justify such a big segment.

Arn Anderson came out and tried to be humorous, but it didn’t go over so well (leave the jokes to Hugh Morrus, Arn! Or was he Hugh G. Rection at the time?). Ric Flair then came out in a nice moment, as we hadn’t seen him in months. However, the police came out to arrest him due to a restraining order Russo had against him. Stacy then ran off, but David convinced her to come back. He should have let her be. Back in the ring, she couldn’t go through with the ceremony. She revealed that while she was indeed pregnant, David wasn’t the father. She ran off once more.

The entire thing felt very much influenced by Jerry Springer, but the crowd didn’t go crazy over the revelation like the creative team was likely hoping for. The segment was flat, because neither character was likable and it came across as a desperate, thrown together idea that just wasn’t very good.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
