You know when I said Drew could do better? Well, it turns out he couldn't do that much better...

After his first reign was so rudely interrupted by Randy Orton, McIntyre embarked upon his second stint as WWE's standardbearer. His first title defence took place at TLC in the show's titular match. His opponents were two legendary high flyers, AJ Styles and... The Miz? How do you keep worming your way into these things!

The Phenomenal One and Mr. Maryse were dispatched with ease, paving the way for McIntyre to take on his most dangerous foe to date: nostalgia. He took on Goldberg at the 2021 Royal Rumble, with everyone crossing their fingers that he wouldn't go the same way as Kevin Owens or Bray Wyatt. Thankfully, Drew got the W over the former WCW man.

Even though Elimination Chamber ended badly, McIntyre put in a strong showing in the actual match, eliminating Styles and Jeff Hardy on his way to retaining the title, before Miz and his dastardly briefcase spoiled the party. A decent run, but as we said earlier, he should have just beaten Randy Orton and had one long reign.
