Ranking Every WWE WrestleMania Main Event - From Worst To Best
46. Yokozuna vs Hulk Hogan (WrestleMania 9)
All too often, fans are quick to criticize Bret Hart for being "bitter" about his wrestling career, but they'd be a bit more compassionate if they were to look at the litany of ways 'The Hitman' had been screwed over the course of his career. The Montreal Screwjob is top of that list, of course, but the egregious miscarriage of justice that Hart suffered at WrestleMania 9 is one of the worst moments in WWE history.
After being embroiled in the steroid scandal that rocked WWE to its core, Hulk Hogan had been missing from our screens for around 11 months before being put on the card at WrestleMania 9. He had his life-long soulmate, Brutus 'The Barber' Beefcake, were involved in a tag team match earlier in the evening against Ted DiBiase and IRS's Money Inc team, in which they unsuccessfully challenged for the WWE Tag Team Championship.
The main event then descended into farce, with Yokozuna defeating Bret Hart for the WWE Championship after his manager, Mr Fuji, tossed salt into the eyes of 'The Hitman' when he had the Sharpshooter locked in. Hulk Hogan would then come down to the ring before Mr Fuji challenged Hogan to an impromptu title match, with 'The Hulkster' being cheered on by the defeated Bret Hart. He won the title from Yokozuna in 22 seconds, after Fuji accidentally hit his champion in the eyes with salt. It remains one of the stupidest endings to any PPV in WWE history.
