21. The Rock & Roman Reigns vs Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes (WrestleMania 40, Night 1)
The Final Boss era of The Rock's career was a giant success in 2024. His bitter feud with Cody Rhodes was box office, his promos on social media were as good as he had ever delivered, and the press conference in Las Vegas that lit the way for this Night One match at WrestleMania 40 was the stuff of legends.
This was the first time that WWE had turned WrestleMania into a 2-night story. This night one main event between Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns and The Rock had actual consequences for the WWE Championship match the following night. Victory for Cody Rhodes's team would mean no outside interference would be allowed for his shot at Roman Reigns's WWE title, but if The Rock and Reigns connection won the match, Bloodline Rules would be in play for night two's main event.
After a hellacious back-and-forth battle, The Rock pinned Cody Rhodes to make his attempt at finishing his story a much more difficult job. Not only that, but The Rock pinning Rhodes means that their story might have more chapters to write in the future. This was absolutely the right outcome because the epic finale to WrestleMania 40 was only enabled by The Bloodline emerging as winners on Night One.
