Ranking Every WWE WrestleMania Main Event - From Worst To Best
40. John Cena vs Cody Rhodes (WrestleMania 41, Night 2)
Fans will discuss the heel run John Cena put together during his final year in WWE for the rest of time, but it was during the main event of WrestleMania 41 that the whole thing truly unraveled. Up to this point, everything made sense. The Rock tried to corrupt Cody Rhodes on the run up to Elimination Chamber, but WWE's new white knight proved incorruptible. Instead, it would be Cena who turned to the dark side, aligning with The Rock while being flanked by rapper Travis Scott.
Cena's promos on the road to WrestleMania were decent enough, and Cody continued to play the hero role that he'd done so brilliantly up to the beginning of this feud. John's entrance at WrestleMania was brilliant too. A plain font just saying his name on the ramp and big screens, and a single spotlight followed him to the ring. It was unique and continued to strip away everything fans loved about him.
The match that followed was an enormous disappointment to fans and, quite probably, the two men in the ring. Left out to dry by a non-appearance by The Rock, Travis Scott reemerged to help Cena win a match that was lacking in drama and intensity. After being the catalyst for Cena's heel turn and with a stadium full of people and millions watching around the world waiting for his entrance music to hit, The Rock didn't show, and it left Cena in a hole he was unable to get out of.
