Your enjoyment and/or tolerance of this show will come down to how you feel about the gimmick at the heart of the titular match. Unsure about a ladder-based scramble in the empty performance centre, WWE talent decamped to corporate HQ, where the men’s and women’s briefcases were suspended above a handy ring on the roof.

Hijinks, unsurprisingly, ensued. The battle through the building was a mixed bag, with a few fun spots and goofy cameos, and a healthy dose of execrable WWE comedy, culminating in a food fight that felt somewhat beneath the likes of Styles, Black, Bryan, and Baszler. (The less said about the treatment of men’s winner Otis the better.)

The card also featured a serviceable match between empty era MVP Bayley and Tamina, an effective Bobby Lashley squash of R-Truth, and a properly decent scrap between Drew McIntyre and a slightly directionless Seth Rollins, who showed the Scotsman face-like respect post-match before returning to heel business.

And then there was Braun Strowman’s title defence against Bray Wyatt, which was just weird. Strowman teased a return to his black sheep days by donning the mask. Then he stamped on it and won, and his title run plodded on.
