REAL Reason WWE Booked An Ambulance Match For Clash Of Champions 2020?
The Scottish WWE Champion's reign may be coming to an unclean end...
WWE chose to make Clash of Champions' WWE Championship showdown between Drew McIntyre and Randy Orton an Ambulance match in order to protect the champ in defeat, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
After Orton and McIntyre both sent each other to the hosp- sorry, local medical facility in recent weeks, the decision was made to turn their upcoming Championship grudge match at Clash of Champion (GOLD RUSH!) into an Ambulance match. This is important as the only way a star can win this bout is by hurling their opponent into the back of a medical vehicle.
It's now being reported that this stipulation was added so that McIntyre could be protected in defeat as many of these type of matches have been known to end via fluke finishes. For example, Roman Reigns powered himself into the back of an ambulance after missing a spear on Braun Strowman at Great Balls of Fire 2017.
An epic WWE Championship blow-off between Orton and his bitter rival Edge is also rumoured to be on the horizon for WrestleMania 37, so could this be the way WWE get the belt on him before then?
Could Keith Lee also be added to the mix before next Sunday's PPV after being heavily involved with the programme so far?
All eyes will surely be on McIntyre and Lee's scheduled showdown this Monday night as we visit one of the alst stops on the road to Clash of Champions.
