Repackaging WWE Survivor Series 1987
1. The Hulkamaniacs Versus The Heenan Family
Hulk Hogan (captain), Hillbilly Jim, The Junkyard Dog and 'Rowdy' Roddy Piper versus André The Giant (captain), King Kong Bundy, Harley Race and Big John Studd (with Bobby 'The Brain' Heenan).
After his first team's effort disintegrates, Heenan shifts focus to the main event. This incarnation of the Survivor Series 1987 main event trades Butch Reed in favor of 'The King' Harley Race and Big John Studd, who 'The Brain' managed to coax out of semi-retirement. Paired with King Kong Bundy and André The Giant, the Heenan Family appears insurmountable.
Hogan's team meanwhile, undergoes a complete overhaul. With Orndorff manning his own team, Bigelow aiding Brutus Beefcake and Patera and Muraco rounding out Team Duggan, The Hulkster opts for those most familiar with the enemy at hand. In this instance, that's fan-turned-ally Hillbilly Jim and the immensely beloved Junkyard Dog, who tangled with Bundy and Race for most of the year. Last, but certainly not least, Hogan reaches out to Hollywood and coerces Roddy Piper into a one night only appearance between filming sessions.
Hot Rod preserves both health and reputation in a ringside skirmish that sees both himself and Studd disqualified. As the smoke clears, only team captains remain. The Eighth Wonder of the World unexpectedly prevails as a meddling Ted DiBiase absconds with Hulk's WWF Championship belt and Hogan gives chase. Heenan catches the routine Hogan beating afterward to appease the crowd and set the main event of the first Royal Rumble PPV into motion.
