WWE has been forced to tear up their planned SummerSlam 2020 and come up with a new lineup in the wake of key injuries and the ongoing global health crisis.

This is according to WrestleVotes, who tweeted the following on Monday:-

Edge and Brock Lesnar would have likely featured prominently on what is traditionally one of WWE's biggest pay-per-views of the year. Now, with live crowds absent and unlikely to return until September at the absolute earliest, WWE has been forced to pivot.

Lesnar would have been a likely candidate to face Drew McIntyre for the WWE Championship, having fallen to the Scotsman at WrestleMania 36. 'The Beast Incarnate' is never too far removed from the title picture whenever he's around, though McIntyre has his eyes on other opponents now, having talked Randy Orton up as a potential challenger for 23 August.

Edge, meanwhile, is currently undergoing treatment for a triceps injury suffered while wrestling Orton at Backlash 2020. WrestlingNews.co is now reporting that their blow-off match is being pencilled in for Royal Rumble 2021 or WrestleMania 37 depending on Edge's recovery.

No SummerSlam matches have been confirmed thus far though this weekend's Extreme Rules pay-per-view should provide hints.
