Report: Several AEW Forbidden Door 'Lights Out' Steel Cage Wrestlers Coming In Injured (AEW News)
Forbidden Door 2025's main event could be affected by numerous talent injuries.
Wrestling Observer head Dave Meltzer is reporting that the stacked 5v5 'Lights Out Steel Cage' match will headline this weekend's AEW Forbidden Door pay-per-view in London, England. The full lineup sees Kenny Omega, Kota Ibushi, Will Ospreay, Darby Allin and Hiroshi Tanahashi tangle with opposite squad Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, The Young Bucks and Gabe Kidd.
However, Meltzer also revealed via Wrestling Observer Radio that several workers are carrying injuries heading into the showpiece match. Will Ospreay is definitely one of those affected - he announced that he was battling through some injuries in late-July. The main crux of Will's woes are 2 herniated discs in his back (C2 and C6) that are having an impact on his spinal cord.
AEW chief Tony Khan has wrapped Ospreay in cotton wool heading into Forbidden Door 2025. He hasn't wrestled since teaming with Swerve Strickland to defeat The Young Bucks at All In Texas on 12 July, but Will has been appearing on AEW TV during the build towards this UK PPV.
His inclusion was vital to Khan - Ospreay had been all over promotional materials for Forbidden Door, so risking him in-ring on Dynamite or Collision before the show would've been foolish.
There's no word on exactly who else is struggling through injuries, but Meltzer's report suggests that a fair few involved are banged up and less than 100%. Just how much of a negative impact this has on the match remains to be seen. Everyone will do their best to work around any issues on the night.
Other major matches on tap for Forbidden Door include Hangman Page defending his AEW World Title vs. MJF, Toni Storm defending her AEW Women's Title vs. Athena, and a rather tasty looking IWGP World Heavyweight Championship clash pitting champ Zack Sabre Jr vs. Nigel McGuinness.
