Seth Rollins' 9 WWE Title Defences - From Worst To Best
9. Kane - Hell In A Cell
With the Corporate Kane gimmick outstaying its welcome, it was actually a relief to see the Demon Kane return, and the build up to this match was a lot of fun (despite being undeniably goofy). While it was obvious from the start that pitting Seth Rollins against Kane was never going to have the greatest of results, this was a match which needed to happen after the tensions which arose between the two men as part of The Authority. Unfortunately, if you're looking for further proof that Kane should probably hang up his mask and wig for good, this bout was it. A sluggish affair, Rollins did his best to make it exciting, but this was a brief and clearly unimportant match sandwiched between two far higher profile ones set inside the Hell in a Cell. You have to hand it to Rollins for telling a great story though, as the constant flying knees to weaken Kane were a great way of setting up the Pedigree - which Kane took in perhaps the worst way possible by basically just crumpling to the mat - for a surprising clean finish. For what it was, this match was entertaining, but it ultimately didn't give Rollins the chance to showcase his abilities due to the fact that he was taking on a much slower and older opponent. Still, the clean victory was a pleasant surprise, and this was a solid enough way to bring the long running feud (and the Corporate Kane character) between these bitter enemies to an end.
