Seth Rollins' 9 WWE Title Defences - From Worst To Best
5. Randy Orton - Extreme Rules
Cage matches in the PG era tend to be a little hit and miss, and while the match between Rollins and Randy Orton didn't quite live up to what they delivered the month before at WrestleMania, it was still great. Rollins really sold the hell out of being thrown around the cage, and there were a couple of very impressive and memorable spots which included him being tugged down from the cage onto his face and later receiving a Superplex from pretty much the very top of the structure. If anything held this one back, it was only the fact that we had seen them in the ring together so many times before. However, an interesting caveat which made this encounter feel fresh was the fact that Orton was banned from using the RKO. It's that which made the ending all the more brilliant as Rollins took advantage of the interference from his fellow Authority members by unleashing an RKO Outta Nowhere to land the upset victory at the last second. WWE Superstars stealing each other's finishers is obviously something of a trope, but it also happens rarely enough to be a lot of fun when they do incorporate that into a match. That was definitely the case in this instance, and blowing off this rivalry inside one of the better steel cage matches in recent years helped Rollins' title reign get off to a strong start.
