Seth Rollins' 9 WWE Title Defences - From Worst To Best
4. Dean Ambrose/Randy Orton/Roman Reigns - Payback
While this match wasn't quite The Shield Triple Threat fans have been fantasy booking since they first broke up, it came pretty close! Fatal Four Way matches are always a lot of fun though, and each of these guys squaring off at various points - particularly Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns - made for compelling viewing. The constant interference from The Authority became a little tedious at times of course, but Rollins winning with The Pedigree was a very pleasant surprise (the Curb Stomp had been banned by the time Payback rolled around). However, the real highlight here was obviously the short lived reunion between the three former Shield members. The pop Ambrose, Reigns, and Rollins received when they started beating on Randy Orton outside the ring was as huge as you might expect, and them subsequently delivering a Triple Powerbomb to The Viper appeared to point to the dominant stable finally being back together, especially when Rollins put his arms around his former teammates to a huge response. Had this been the plan all along? Were The Shield back to usurp The Authority? Alas, it wasn't meant to be, as Ambrose and Reigns soon put the treacherous champion back in his place. This was still an incredible moment however, and the match itself was wrestled excellently by all four men. Rollins really gave it his all here though, and this ended up being a particularly fantastic showing from him.
