Steve Austin Vs Brock Lesnar At WWE WrestleMania 32?

Rumors of a possible Steve Austin vs. Brock Lesnar match at WrestleMania 32 have persisted ever since Austin interviewed Paul Heyman on the Stone Cold Podcast. At the end of that interview, both Austin and Heyman went into character speaking of a possible showdown between the two men. The question at the time was why would these two have wasted television time on the WWE Network teasing this match if it wasn't at least being considered? Austin has vehemently denied for several months that any match against Lesnar was ever possible. However, a new interview with FOX Sports has raised the issue once more. Austin told Brian Fritz of FOX that he actually did consider doing the match.

"I considered it for just a brief moment but again, just like I tell everybody, what's on the backside of a match like that, you know? I got out of the business when I got out. The hunger was out of my system. It's almost like getting off an addiction. I'm not addicted to wrestling anymore. For a long time I was. So what's on the backside of that match for me? A whole lot of nothing. So it would be a lot of buildup and, to me, it would be almost anti-climactic."

Austin last wrestled for WWE in 2003 at WrestleMania XIX in a match against The Rock. Would Austin consider a return match against someone other than Lesnar? Austin sounds pretty positive that he has wrestled his last match.

"I think 99.9 percent I've had my last match. If I felt froggy and wanted to jump for any particular reason, just because I said right now I have the fever for it, I'd like to do it. But for all practical, intrinsic, whatever kind of purposes, I'm done. Again, if I felt like it, could I? Yeah. Would I? In a dream world, possibly. I'm not trying to promote a match and pretty much I am done. I would always reserve the option."

In reality, if there was any chance at this point of a match between Austin and Lesnar, some kind of angle would have been shot between the two when Lesnar appeared on the Stone Cold Podcast two weeks ago. WWE hyped the interview for several weeks, so when no conversation came up between the two about a possible match, the rumors should have been put to rest for good.
