10 Best Wrestlers Of 2015 (Who Don't Work For WWE)
7. Alberto El Patron (AAA/Lucha Underground)
Highlight of the Year: Teaming with Rey Mysterio, Jr. and Myzteziz to win AAA's Lucha Libre World Cup. Don't confuse Alberto El Patron with the Alberto Del Rio who's been boring fans as WWE United States Champion - while Del Rio delivers uninspired promos and has repetitive matches as part of the company's ill-planned League of Nations stable, El Patron traveled the world looking to prove that he could be a dominant wrestler outside of the purview of Vince McMahon and Triple H. After capturing the AAA Mega Championship in late 2014, El Patron had major Pay-Per-View matches against Brian Cage and Johnny Mundo, all while managing to win the Lucha Libre World Cup with fellow "Dream Team" members Rey Mysterio, Jr. and Myzteziz (Mistico/Sin Cara). The story behind El Patron's departure from WWE and return to AAA made him a hero to Mexican wrestling fans, and in 2015, he cemented that reputation as a cornerstone of the promotion. El Patron was also a major player on Lucha Underground, AAA's sister promotion/U.S. TV show. On Lucha Underground, El Patron defended the Mega Championship against former champion El Texano, Jr. in bullrope match before transitioning into a feud with Mundo.
