If Sting is forced to retire due to the injuries he suffered in the title match with Seth Rollins at WWE Night Of Champions, he'll leave behind a legacy that will likely never be matched, one that includes a minimal amount of clean losses in the many promotions he worked for. Sting's WWE win-loss record of 0-2 on pay-per-view isn't anything to write home about, but Rollins' clean win over The Icon at the September event should have been made out to be a bigger deal than it was. In the near-decade he was with TNA, he wasn't beaten on the grand stage all too often. In fact, only five individuals can say they beat him on pay-per-view without having to resort to using underhanded tactics. As a result, a win over Sting essentially meant that the wrestler was made, no questions asked. It showed that both Sting and management had enough faith in that person to carry the TNA torch and that they were worthy of such a big win. No one knew at the time that these few clean victories versus the Stinger would be as monumental as they have become.
