It's no wonder it's so easy to imagine Vince McMahon jumping into Brock Lesnar's arms every time he shows up to a television taping or pay-per-view - 'The Beast' was once the biggest safety net in the entire company.

Long before the organisation cannibalised pay-per-view for the good of their Network, Brock Lesnar's 2012 return afforded them a ready-made draw when so few of their recent creations were fulfilling the brief. Both veteran and newcomer, his brand of violence was a novelty, as too were a series of "firsts" with the likes of John Cena, Triple H and CM Punk.

Eventually, the well started to run dry on that particular formula - 'The Beast' had a host of rematches with 'The Champ' and 'The Game', and worked multiple pay-per-views against Goldberg, Roman Reigns, Braun Strowman, The Undertaker, Seth Rollins and just about everybody he faced as he too fell victim to the company's repetitive strain booking.

Even his October 4th showdown with Kofi Kingston marks the second heavily-promoted go around between the two...
