March 1992 - Press Start

After he was bold enough to call Killer Kowalski on his home number, Paul Levesque studies under a man known, through various moments of serendipity across his career, as a notorious, scary, and malicious heel.

Keen bodybuilder Levesque makes his in-ring debut against frequent early opponent ‘Flying’ Tony Roy on an unspecified date in March 1992 for Kowalski’s northeast-based International Wrestling Federation. It’s as small-time as it gets. Roy throws frisbees into the crowd to get the fans up and about, and comes out to Queen’s ‘We Will Rock You’: the easiest crowd interaction song ever. It’s chosen for that cheap purpose. One of the Roy matches is on YouTube.

A few things are notable about a match that, being among his first, doesn’t warrant deep analysis. Levesque wears his bright blonde hair long, is fond of a knee drop, and spams chops in the corner. He’s very much a fan of Ric Flair.

Again, it’s his first match, but it’s ironically low on “snap”.
