The Rock's 10 Best WWE Moments
1. Winning The Game
Remember way back in third place when the Summerslam 1998 ladder match demonstrated that Triple H and the Rock were both being groomed for the main event? Just three months later, and those plans came to fruition.
A triple feud between Steve Austin, Undertaker, and Kane had culminated with the title being declared vacant, to be decided in a 14-man tournament at that year's Survivor Series.
The Rock, meanwhile, entered a feud with Vince McMahon, who hated the people and, by proxy, the People’s Champion. McMahon placed his faith in Mankind who was eager to become a corporate champion the boss could be proud of.
Rock's tournament began with the Big Boss Man, who fell victim to a surprise small package that pinned him in just 4 seconds, followed with by a bout against Ken Shamrock that ended with Boss Man attempt to aid Shamrock backfiring when the Rock intercepted an errant nightstick.
The semi-finals saw the Rock battle the Undertaker, only for Kane to chokeslam him and disqualify his brother, furthering the rivalry between the two.
His final obstacle was McMahon's chosen one, Mankind. Ultimately, the Rock placed his opponent in the Sharpshooter with Vince calling for the bell, recreating the infamous Montreal screwjob. All of the sudden, the pieces seemed to fit into place: Boss Man lost on purpose and botched the throw to Shamrock so Rocky could catch it! With possibly the single most clever piece of booking on a single night, McMahon had the corporate champion he had sought all along.
