The Rock's Titan Games To Run Directly Opposite WWE Raw
Bet Vince McMahon isn't too pleased about this one...
The next season of Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson's Titan Games reality show will air directly opposite WWE Monday Night Raw from the 25 May, per new television listings.
Titan Games is produced and presented by Johnson and will go out on NBC between 8pm and 9pm every Monday evening. The first episode is a two-hour special, however, and will be on the air until 10pm.
What could this mean for WWE? Well, the first season averaged roughly 6 million viewers. We'll find out what chunk of those are wrestling fans when Titan Games and Raw go head-to-head on 25 May.
This week's Wrestling Observer Newsletter features a writeup on the situation, with Dave Meltzer noting that while Titan Games wasn't originally going to be scheduled for this slot, the network changed their mind in the absence of live sports on television. Thus, the show was moved up.
Former WWE writer Brian Gewirtz is also a producer on Titan Games.
All major professional wrestling ratings have tumbled in this Empty Arena Era, with Raw, SmackDown, NXT, and AEW unable to retain viewers without the noise of a live crowd, despite most other sports going on hiatus.
