These Wrestlers Just Had Their WORST Match Ever!
3. The Hardys (With Mark Briscoe Vs. Kip Sabian, The Butcher & The Blade) - AEW Rampage, January 5
Though the ever-unpredictable Mark Briscoe can still be counted on to deliver the explosive fun, the same sadly cannot be said for his trios tag partners on January 5's edition of AEW Rampage.
There was definitely a time when Matt & Jeff Hardy were two of the most innovative and exciting talents the business had to offer. But judging from their plodding display against Kip Sabian, The Butcher & The Blade, that time is OVAH.
The two legends will always have their fiercely loyal supporters and folks understandably can't help but pop at the sight of 'The Charismatic Enigma' crushing chests with his Swanton Bomb, but both Hardy Boys still felt largely off the pace throughout this trios battle.
Jeff's standing splash gets uglier by the week. Matt's offence lacked any snap throughout. And listening to Tony Shiavone talk about how the unit hadn't lost a step before they awkwardly botched a Poetry in Motion spot later in the bout perfectly summed up the dodgy performance.
Sabian and co. sold the veterans' often limp attacks as best they could and Briscoe was able to inject some much-needed fire late on with a sensational Froggy Bow for the win.
The Hardys still have it in them to occasionally produce a few flickers of glorious chaos with the right dance partners - just look at Jeff's recent war with Darby Allin. But this early January Rampage fight was a hard watch at times, and perhaps a sign that it's time to leave the tag team dimension behind.
