Having poked the proverbial bear on the most recent episode of AEW Dynamite, Tony Khan has now revealed he spoke to New Japan Pro Wrestling before taking his jabs at WWE and Nick Khan on last Friday’s Dynamite offering.

For those who missed it, the AEW Chairman used Dynamite as the platform to cut a promo on WWE President & Chief Revenue Officer Nick Khan.

There, Tony moved to shoot down the dirt sheet scuttlebutt that Nick and WWE were in talks about setting up an exclusive arrangement with NJPW. Not just that, but TK also stated how there’s only room for one Khan in the wrestling business – and that’s Tony Khan, not “some conman from Connecticut”.

Speaking during last night’s Double or Nothing post-show media scrum (as per Fightful), Tony explained how he contacted New Japan and asked whether they thought it would be a good idea for him to cut the promo we ultimately saw air on Friday.

Not only did Tony confirm that NJPW thought it was “great”, he also added how he believes that AEW and New Japan Pro Wrestling are “going to do a lot of great things going forward with everything we’ve talked about and agreed to”.
