With AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door having won plentiful praise, many wrestling fans are pondering whether we'll get to see this AEW and NJPW supershow concept revisited again in the future. And on that matter, AEW President Tony Khan certainly seems keen to deliver a second Forbidden Door PPV.

Speaking on The Kliq podcast (via POST Wrestling), Khan was asked about the role AEW has to play in New Japan Pro-Wrestling's expansion into the US and the prospect of Forbidden Door 2.

"We have a great partnership with New Japan Pro-Wrestling. They're doing more events in America and we're working closely with them as good partners, and of course we always build up this big event, AEW and New Japan coming together, Forbidden Door, and I think Forbidden Door 1 was a big success. We're looking forward to doing it together again. They send a lot of their top stars to AEW and to Ring of Honor, and I love working with them. I think it's been a great relationship and there's a lot of trust between the parties."

Upon being asked whether wrestling fans can look forward to AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2 this summer, Khan simply noted:

"Yes, I think so."

Emanating from Chicago's United Center, the inaugural Forbidden Door took place on 26 June 2022. Pitting the stars of AEW up against the stars of NJPW, the PPV was headlined by Jon Moxley defeating Hiroshi Tanahashi to become the Interim AEW World Champion.

In terms of New Japan's presence in the US, this Saturday sees NJPW Battle in the Valley take place in San Jose, California. In a double main event, Kazuchika Okada will defend the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship after the aforementioned Tanahashi, and Kairi will defend the IWGP Women's Championship against Mercedes Moné.

As for AEW, the next big event on the All Elite horizon is AEW Revolution on Saturday 5 March. That PPV will be headlined by Bryan Danielson challenging for the AEW World Championship currently held by one Maxwell Jacob Friedman.
