Drew McIntyre has been suffering from food poisoning lately.

Several outlets reported on this over the weekend, including Fightful Select, the Wrestling Observer/Figure Four Online, and PWInsider. PWInsider's is the most substantial writeup, citing McIntyre's illness as the recent he was pulled from this past weekend's WWE house shows.

Drew was "very ill" at Friday's SmackDown tapings. Per Mike Johnson, McIntyre required IV treatment to help get him through a show that saw him participate in a big angle with Karrion Kross and Scarlett, though WWE decided to take him off the house shows so that he could rest.

With McIntyre pulled from the live events, WWE replaced him with Braun Strowman, who worked his first house show bouts since returning to the promotion earlier this month. Braun teamed with The New Day in victories over The Bloodline's Jey Uso, Jimmy Uso, and Solo Sikoa on Saturday and Sunday.

McIntyre and Kross will contest a strap match at Extreme Rules 2022 on Saturday 8 October. SmackDown saw them engage in a gone-wrong fireball angle, with the flame missing McIntyre, forcing the participants to improvise their way out of a difficult situation.
