Triple H Unveils New WWE Tag-Team Titles On SmackDown
Austin Theory and Grayson Waller's belts just received a serious WWE upgrade.
Triple H unveiled brand new WWE Tag-Team Championship belts to the world on this week's episode of SmackDown. They're a bit less garish and more traditional than the World Tag-Team Titles recently revealed over on Raw.
SmackDown Tag Champs and heel duo A-Town Down Under grinned as Trips and brand GM Nick Aldis showed off their new gold. These belts replace the old SmackDown versions, and are very similar to the old World Tag-Team gold that WWE used before rebranding the titles in 2011.
WWE immediately booked a four-way match to establish new number one contenders to work against Grayson Waller and Austin Theory. The Street Profits beat New Catch Republic, AOP and Legado del Fantasma before working a staredown spot with the reigning champs.
That match will probably be added to the Backlash: France lineup soon, but nothing has been confirmed at time of writing.
The new titles are already proving popular with some fans on social media - they're certainly more popular than the ones handed to R-Truth and The Miz over on Raw.
