Fresh updates on the Chris Jericho/Montel Vontavious Porter hotel skirmish have emerged following the shocking first reports that dropped last week.

Following the Wrestling Observer's report on the story on Friday, MVP moved to both confirm the validity of incident and deny the details of some of the specifics, and since then, Fightful have added further notes to a story that could run and run.

In a recent report from sources close to the situation, the heat stems from “social and political issues", with MVP noting that “there was an exchange, but it didn’t go down like that”, that there was “two sides to every story” and that the two men were no longer friends. Jercho's response mirrored his original quote, noting there was "nothing else to say. I don’t fight jobbers. Nuff said.”

It was confirmed that MVP was at the AEW talent hotel meeting friends when Jericho arrived. Porter approached him to discuss their issues and invited Jericho outside to "handle their problems" but Jericho got into an elevator and passed the aforementioned "jobber" comments.

Additionally, it was said that MVP was visiting with several of his friends at the talent hotel when Chris Jericho showed up in the lobby area. At that point, MVP approached him and wanted to talk about their issues. One source said MVP invited Chris Jericho to go outside to “handle their problems.” Instead, Chris Jericho got into an elevator, and when the doors were closing, he screamed that he “doesn’t fight jobbers.”

A WWE source claimed that someone in AEW notified John Laurinaitis but he “didn’t seem to care”.

More on this - and there'll surely be more - as and when it develops.
