3 Ups & 5 Downs From WWE Unreal Season 2 (Review)
1. The R-Truth Saga
The news that R-Truth and WWE were parting ways was one of the most shocking moments of 2025. Truth was on the run of a lifetime. He had been one of the best parts of The Judgment Day's electric run in 2023 and 2024, and his comedic contributions have been so universally praised that he is without question a future WWE Hall of Famer.
Episode 2 of Unreal focuses on this contractual dispute and attempts to cast a new narrative on what led to Truth's "dismissal". The show suggests that WWE didn't believe Truth was worth the salary he was being paid, and that the company attempted to scare him into taking reduced terms by not offering to extend his contract. Triple H saying that, "Truth was never not with the company", and suggesting he had run to the internet to say he'd been fired, is a severely rose-tinted look at the incident.
TKO is a company charging fans unprecedented ticket prices. R-Truth is one of the most popular members of the WWE locker room, and unquestionably the funniest performer the company has. The idea that Unreal floats is that Truth pulled a coup on WWE. Fans would argue that they pay their money for subscriptions, merch, and tickets to watch the best entertainers that WWE can provide. To suggest Truth doesn't meet that criteria is shameful, and Unreal's suggestion that he'd somehow conned the audience into believing he'd been fired to be paid more than he is worth is an argument that's weaker than a James Ellsworth bearhug.
