Vince McMahon is working meticulously to finalise plans for tonight's WWE Royal Rumble 2022 show, reports PWInsider's Mike Johnson.

The WWE chairman and CEO has changed several parts of the two Rumble bouts, including the wrestlers that'll be in the ring at the beginning and end. Unlike last year, when planning the over-the-top-rope battle royals was a relatively straightforward process, the 2022 event has been more complicated, with a "meticulous" Vince figuring out what he wants to do.

While nothing has been confirmed yet, recent days have brought talk of adding wrestlers already set to compete elsewhere on the show to the men's Rumble. The idea of throwing in Brock Lesnar, who defends his WWE Championship against Bobby Lashley on the night, was pitched in the last week.

On top of this, there has also been a push for Randy Orton to enter a strong performance with the pay-per-view taking place in his St. Louis, Missouri hometown.

On the women's side, WWE are still putting plans together. Today saw the participants work their second run-through after last night's rehearsal.

For now, the Rumbles are dependent on Vince's whims - though Lesnar vs. Universal Champion Roman Reigns is effectively locked in for WrestleMania 38.
