Jim Ross has revealed that Vince McMahon was ever-so-slightly p*ssed when he found out how much Brock Lesnar was making as a rookie back in 2002.

JR told listeners via his podcast that he agreed a deal to sign Lesnar for $250,000 per year minimum. When Ross relayed this news to the boss, McMahon "looked at [him] like [he] was insane"; Vince couldn't believe that Jim would give a rank newbie so much cash when he could likely offer less and go from there.

Of course, Lesnar went on to break through and become someone McMahon was very comfortable paying shedloads of cash. Brock turned into a WWE success story within just a few months of arriving on the main roster, and that vindicated JR's original decision.

It's interesting that Ross had the power to sign workers without consulting McMahon first. That's why the boss was so flabbergasted when he heard that Lesnar would be getting quarter of a million right off the bat. Still, JR knew he'd be worth it and would make the most of the opportunity.

Let's just say Jim got that one right.
