What If... Roman Reigns NEVER Turned Heel In WWE

Determined to change the wrestling world and provide a much-needed alternative to the often painful WWE experience, Tony Khan and The Elite's AEW arrived in 2019 and proceeded to become the most exciting promotion in town.

And that momentum was sustained for a good few years there, with those Elite lads (including Cody Rhodes), CM Punk, Bryan Danielson, and many more helping create not just a brilliant escape from the still regularly dreary WWE programming, but a genuine challenger.

However, the tide began to turn once Roman and the Bloodline's saga began to really intensify, with WWE seeing the chance to appeal to a mass audience and giving them more of the easy to digest and incredibly satisfying soap opera drama they were looking for.

It's safe to assume WWE likely wouldn't have been able to lure in that many eyes and take a lot of the attention away from that vibrant new rival with their rather dry 'Big Dog' holding the gold for an eternity.

WWE likely wouldn't have even had the patience to commit to that kind of slow-burn and incredibly successful tale if Roman was still doing as he was told as the smiling leading man. He would have been put through the usual cycle of often nonsensical programs before eventually dropping the belt to Randy Orton at a B show for the shock value.

But with Roman, Heyman and co. at the wheel, all involved have managed to produce countless pieces of magic, regain their audience's trust, make more popular stars out of not just the Bloodline family members, but the other heroes fighting the good fight, and have even given a certain 'Great One' a reason to dip his eyebrow back into the sports entertainment pool.

So, many of the stars you know and love today would probably be on entirely different paths.

Records may not have been broken.

WWE wouldn't possess yet another undisputed megastar.

Exhilarating long-term storylines might not have become the refreshing norm.

The sports entertainment giant possibly wouldn't be thriving in the way it currently is.

Other super hot stars also may have had the chance to really capitalise on their obvious popularity and certain stories would have perhaps been finished earlier, too.

One thing is for certain, though, the wrestling business would be an entirely different place in 2024 if this 'Tribal Chief' never changed the universe all those years ago... with the heel turn we never saw coming.
