8. 2019 (Becky Lynch)
2019 was a year to forget for WWE creatively, but one to remember for Becky Lynch.
She'd shot to prominence as 'The Man' in late-2018, then won the 2019 Royal Rumble and headlined 'Mania 35 alongside Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair. Being honest, that should've been a singles match between Becky and Ronda, but Vince McMahon wanted to reward Flair for her performances too. Fair enough, but the match suffered a little as a result.
Post-WrestleMania, things took a noticeable dip as Becky feuded with Lacey Evans and brought her real-life romance with Seth Rollins to the screen. Her momentum picked back up again later in the year when she warred with Sasha Banks. Overall, Lynch had a presence and aura few could match in 2019.
She was arguably the company's biggest star, and she knew it. Roman Reigns was still being pushed relentlessly, and others like Rollins and Brock Lesnar were drawing a lot of attention (same goes for Bray Wyatt's 'Fiend' offshoot), but Lynch was referred to as 'The Man' for a reason.
No-one carried the same kind of threatening aura she did in matches or promos during the initial flurry of that character. No-one. No, not even the likes of Lesnar and other muscle mountains like Braun Strowman. Becky's success was a true victory for organic crowd responses, a refusal to give in even when things seemed bleak, and WWE rolling with the punches rather than squashing Lynch flat.
She'd never better 2019, which is funny in a way considering how much of a bin fire WWE's product was generally.
