Wrestling Moves That LOOK Horrible (...But Are Actually Totally SAFE!)

4. Clothesline

Wrestling matches typically contain a whole host of different strikes, with most of them not exactly looking like an enjoyable thing to be hit with when pulled off well.

However, while attacks like chops - especially those thrown out by GUNTHER - are up there as one of the worst feelings one can genuinely experience in-between the ropes, the same can't be said of another popular strike.

As one-time WWE talent Maven would once again explain in a video talking about how painful certain wrestling moves are (at 2:34 in the clip below), the move which seems like it involves a wrestler having their head taken off by a swinging arm is actually created by two stars' chests colliding in the middle of the ring.

The arm should then follow through and wipe out nothing but the air, with the receiver then taking a fairly simple and safe back bump. A 47-year-old Maven would even admit that he'd happily still take this specific move in a match today, revealing that he has never once been hurt by it during his career.

Some performers are obviously stiffer workers than others, so it's likely JBL's nasty "From Hell" version wouldn't have been quite as painless as the average clothesline. But if done correctly, this one is a safe weapon for most.
