The steel cage match. Its roots can be traced back to Atlanta, in 1937. It's become a staple in wrestling over the last 75 years, used in a number of ways in a match, depending on the story you're trying to tell. Usually, the cage is used as either a weapon, to slam your opponent around on to cause more damage than you could in a regular match; or, it was used to keep a cowardly heel inside with the hero, so he can finally get what's coming to him. And then there's the uses of the cage I'm going to go over here in just a minute - using it as a platform, to crash down on your opponent from 10 feet in the air. It is devastating, dangerous, and it gets a huge reaction out of the crowd, no matter what the outcome.
