WWE: 10 Candidates To Be The New Raw General Manager
7. Teddy Long
Much like Brad Maddox, Teddy Long served as a referee as well as a manger before becoming the general manager of SmackDown in 2004. Long was to SmackDown what Eric Bischoff was to Raw, having served as the program's head authority figure for over three years. Even once he was removed from his post in late 2007, he served as the assistant to the then-SmackDown General Manager Vickie Guerrero in 2008 before becoming the GM of ECW later that year. Once Vickie moved to Raw shortly following WrestleMania 25, Long returned to SmackDown and served as the GM once again for another three years. Long's time as SmackDown GM came to an end at WrestleMania 28 when his team lost a multi-man tag team match to the team of John Laurinaitis. He would continue to serve in an assistant role for the next year in a half to the likes of Big Johnny and Booker T before being out of a job by the summer of 2013. During this time, tension was teased between Booker and Long, but it ultimately lead to nothing. Booker and Long are equally likely candidates to become Raw's latest authority figure, but unlike Booker, Long currently doesn't have a regular role on WWE TV. The former referee has made only a handful of appearances since last summer, so don't be surprised to see The Authority handpick him as the new GM of Raw simply to give him something to do.
