WWE: 10 Ideas To Improve The Current Product

9. Talent Interaction

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wwzpnuDglP4 Question: how does a wrestler get over? By WRESTLING, sure, if you want to be all pedantic about it. But also by virtue of personality. This is how we the audience get a sense of character, how we understand their motivation and the overall story going into any match. Lets not forget that sports-entertainment is, at heart, storytelling. And while the very best Superstars are the ones who can tell a story without words, it never hurt to allow them a little time outside of the ring to present themselves verbally. So here's two ways WWE can improve there One way is to allow all of their Superstars more time, and more importantly a certain amount of freedom on the microphone. At present, the guy given most leeway to say what he wants is John Cena, because they have faith in him. They know all he's going to do is come out with a few jokes and jibes to wind the audience up, but that he'll stick to the script. When they show that much faith in other guys, wonderful things can happen. CM Punk's pipebomb in 2011 sent shockwaves through the wrestling world and actually brought a lot of viewers back to WWE programming. AJ Lee's tirade against the Total Divas last year sparked interest in the Divas division not seen in some time. Daniel Bryan came up with the "YES" chants that are now inescapable. Bray Wyatt writes all his own promos, and look at his popularity before he even set foot in the ring. Recently, Dolph Ziggler had a rant on the WWE app which has gone viral on the internet, his own "pipebomb" moment. WWE, if you want guys to establish certain points in the story, that's fine. But don't load their gun for them, just point at the target. They can load, aim and fire it themselves. The other idea is backstage interaction between wrestlers. This rarely happens these days, but nowhere NEAR often enough for my liking. Simple things like wrestlers hanging out in the canteen or locker room having a talk about their matches that night. If we look in the past, segments like The Rock and Kurt Angle, Booker T and Goldust, Commissioner Foley's office that moved week to week, ANY TIME the APA set up shop. It was all entertaining. Plus, it helped to set up matches that didn't feel forced. Look at the clip at the top post, APA and Undertaker get in each others face, talk some smack, BOOM, match set up for later. I want to see these guys hang out backstage and how their characters interact. And the odd poker game wouldn't go amiss, either.
