WWE: 10 Problems With The Batista Return

1. The Shades And Designer Sports Gear

batista The biggest issue with Batista's Monday night return was presentation. The state of this guy looked ridiculous. Designer shades, fitted jeans, a fancy pair of Nike shoes and a white sports jersey zipped down to show some of his chest. He looked like a slick Italian playboy on his way to a fashion show in Milan. Perceptions matter in wrestling. Batista should have been coming in as the aggressive animal he was promoted as in advertisements. Instead he debuted looking every bit of the stylish millionaire. The problem with that is the majority of people don't like rich flaunting stars. It's far more of a heel look to come in dressed to the hilt as a good looking money bags. Batista was meant to be face. As part of WWE's key male 18-35 demographic, I thought Batista looked silly. I far more identify with someone like CM Punk who comes out in a cheap hoody with scruffy hair. That is a man of the people. It seems a silly little thing, but the presentation of Batista Monday in this polished role really hurt his comeback. Little things matter in wrestling. So overall, what can we ascertain from Batista's comeback? Well, this is a former star who against Randy Orton can provide a genuine marquee worthy match for Wrestlemania. The wider verdict is yet to be seen. Everything from his age, image and wrestling style could hold him back in 2014. WWE didn't quite get the return right, it is important that whatever comes next addresses the issues flagged up here.
